Counseling Center Has Moved!

Renovations Prompt Temporary Switch (July '09 - July '10)

A map showing move of Counseling Center from Shoemaker Building to Susquehanna Hall
Due to the renovation of the Shoemaker Building, the 4th Floor of Susquehanna Hall will be the temporary home of the University Counseling Center from July 20, 2009 until July, 2010. In a related move, the Center's Learning Assistance Service (LAS) and the Testing Office will be relocated to the 3rd Floor, Suite 3125, of the South Campus Dining Hall during the renovations.

If you are a DSS student who has a mobility disability and you believe that you will have difficulty getting to our new, temporary location at Susquehanna Hall, please call the DSS front desk at 301-314-7682 to schedule your appointments to meet with a counselor in the Adpative Technology Lab - located in 1103 McKeldin Library. DSS counselors will also be available at the Adaptive Technology Lab at the beginning of semester to distribute accommodations letters to you. When you request your letters, please let us know that you need to pick them up at the Lab.

Call 301-314-7651 for more information.

Center Services

Many students encounter a variety of personal, social, career, and academic issues that call for assistance beyond advice provided by friends and family. Fortunately, the Counseling Center provides free and confidential services by professional counselors to all UM students.

Faculty and staff also are confronted with personal and professional issues. The Counseling Center offers free, one-session consultations with all non-students (faculty, staff, non-campus individuals) to aid in resolving concerns and, if appropriate, providing a set of off-campus referrals in order to treat more in-depth issues. In addition, the Center provides, for a fee, a package of career assessment, interpretation and up to five sessions of counseling. The Counseling Center also serves the campus community through its consultation and outreach services. Learn more
