The First Appointment (Intake Interview)

Clients are asked to arrive for the Intake Interview 15 minutes prior to the appointment time in order to complete paperwork.

The Intake Interview is a 50-minute session. The purpose is to learn about you and your child so that we may gain a comprehensive view of your concerns. We will provide an opportunity for you to share your reasons for seeking services, and will gather information about school, home, family, peers, and overall emotional and behavioral patterns. Based on the Intake Interview, we will respond to your immediate concerns, discuss appropriate next steps, and determine if UPCCES services are indicated at this time. You and the Intake Counselor will determine which UPCCES service best meets your needs. At times, services in the community may be more appropriate.

Please bring any relevant school and mental health records with you to the first appointment. You are also welcome to fax them before the appointment (301-314-9206).
