  • Margaretha S. Lucas, Ph.D.

    1. Position: Assistant Director
    2. Bio: As a staff psychologist at the University of Maryland Counseling Center since 1985, I have worked as a therapist and clinical supervisor, and as a faculty member teaching graduate classes in the area of career development and clinical assessment. Furthermore, I have experience as an administrator, I served as the Counseling Center's pre-doctoral Training Director for 7 years, and I have conducted and published research.

  • Ryan D. Duffy, M.A.

    1. Position: Graduate Research Assistant
    2. Bio: I am currently a fourth year doctoral student in Counseling Psychology at Maryland. I received my B.A. in Human Development and Philosophy from Boston College in 2004 and my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Maryland in 2006. My advisor in the Counseling Psychology program is Dr. Robert Lent and my research interests are broadly in the areas of career development, religion/spirituality, and the interface of the two. In my role as a research assistant in the Counseling Center, I primarily help develop the New Student Census and assist in managing this data set, writing reports/articles, and making presentations.

  • Beth Klingaman, M.S.

    1. Position: Graduate Research Assistant
    2. Bio: I am a second year student in the Counseling Psychology Program at the University of Maryland, College Park. I completed my B.A. in Historic Preservation and Psychology at Mary Washington College (Va.) in May of 2004. In May 2007, I completed my M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Loyola College in Maryland. I'm interested in the effects of counseling on diverse populations, the inclusion of underrepresented populations in therapy, and the interaction between physical and mental health. Being fluent in Spanish, I am particularly interested in the above issues as related to Hispanic populations. I'm currently a Research Assistant in the Testing, Research, and Data Processing Unit at the Counseling Center, investigating the help-seeking behavior and preferred diversity programming of college freshmen.

  • Kevin London, M.A.

    1. Position: Graduate Research Assistant
    2. Bio: I am a 5th year doctoral candidate in Counseling Psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park. At the moment most of my time is spent working on developing my dissertation project as well as other research projects and interests. My research interests include process and outcome research on counseling, psychotherapy and clinical supervision and training. Additional research interests include exploring issues that relate to student outcomes in higher education; for example, stress and coping, perceptions and attitudes toward conflict, as well as exploring the relationship between college student race/ethnicity and emotional openness with attitudes toward seeking help from a mental health professional.

  • Cristina Risco, B.S./B.A.

    1. Position: Graduate Research Assistant
    2. Bio: I am currently a third year doctoral student in Counseling Psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park. I graduated from the University of Florida in 2004 with a B.S./B.A. in Psychology and Sociology. My research interests include social group identity development, perceived prejudice/discrimination, and implications of the two for mental health and well-being. In my work with the census, I primarily focus on student multicultural orientation, attitudes toward diversity related programs and policies, and the career development of under represented students.
