Fall 2009

This is a brief summary of the procedures for taking the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) at the University of Maryland, College Park. All candidates should read the "Candidate Information Booklet" or visit www.milleranalogies.com prior to taking the MAT.

The MAT is given at the University of Maryland on the Thursdays listed below and you may arrive between 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM. Total time involved in taking the test is around two hours, including time for registration and actual testing. This test is administered in 3125 South Campus Dining Hall (the Counseling Center) on the College Park campus. You must arrive by 10:30am. Latecomers will not be admitted. If you are unfamiliar with the campus, please give yourself enough time to find parking and the South Campus Dining Hall.

Parking on campus can be difficult. Parking is generally available in the Mowatt Lane Parking Garage, which is about a five-minute walking distance from the South Campus Dining Hall. The parking fee is $3 per hour, with a maximum of $15 for the day. Alternatively, the Metro Green Line stops at College Park. The University provides free shuttle service from the Metro station to campus. Allow at least 30 minutes to get from the Metro station to South Campus Dining Hall. For an interactive and printable campus map, go to www.transportation.umd.edu.

The cost to take the MAT for University of Maryland Students (with current student I.D.) is $60.00. The cost for all other candidates is $70.00. Please bring the exact amount in cash or money order when you come to take the test. Payment to the University of Maryland should be indicated on the money order. The 7-11 convenience store on Knox Road is the closest nearby location to get a money order.

In addition to the fees, you should have:

* Two forms of identification:
      a) A government-issued photo ID, such as driver's license or passport
      b) Another form of ID, such as a social security card or birth certificate
* The addresses of up to 3 recipient schools

The MAT is offered in two forms: computer-based and paper-and-pencil. Most MAT testing is done on the computer. However, a paper-and-pencil MAT will be offered when we have a large crowd of test takers. Immediately following the computer-based test, you will receive a score report, with your scaled score ranging from 200-600. An official Score Report will be mailed to you 2-3 weeks after your test date. For the paper-and-pencil version, an official Score Report will be mailed to you 3-4 weeks following your test. All official Score Reports provide scaled scores and percentile ranks ranging from 1-99.

*The MAT will be offered on the following Thursdays during Fall 2009:

October 8, 15, 22 November 5, 12, 19 December 3, 10

Additional dates will be determined later.
