Computer Based Testing (CBT)

Computer Based Testing is available during specified appointment times or on a walk-in basis if space is available. Exams being offered include the: GRE, TOEFL, and PRAXIS (CBT Exams). If you want to schedule an appointment you may call (301) 314-0319 or come to the Testing Office located in 3125 South Campus Dining Hall. A major credit card or voucher number is required to register by phone. You may register in person using a check or money order.

When you register, be very sure of the date you schedule, since there are rescheduling fees and only partial refunds for cancellations. To reschedule or cancel, you must call at least 3 full business days before your test date for the GRE, and at least 3 business days before your test date for TOEFL or PRAXIS.

Walk-in testing depends on availability of space. Please call before walking-in to be sure the center is open and has space. Bulletins for these tests are available on a magazine rack outside of Room 3125 in South Campus Dining Hall.

GENERAL RULES AND PROCEDURES

1. Please report to the test center 30 minutes before your scheduled testing appointment.
   
   
2. Make sure you have read the policies in the Bulletin of Information for the test you are taking before your appointment. Pay particular attention to the identification requirements for your exam.
   
   
3. Do not bring backpacks to the test center. Personal belongings are not allowed in the testing room and the lockers provided to secure belongings are too small to accommodate backpacks and large purses.
   
   
4. Please refer to the campus map found at http://www.transportation.umd.edu/visitor/campusmap.html to locate South Campus Dining Hall (building 026 on map), the building in which the Testing Office is located. Enter South Campus Dining Hall through the door on the northwest end of the building. Use the stairs or elevator to get to the Testing Office on the uppermost floor.
   
   
5. No food or drink is allowed in the test center.
