Request a Program or Workshop

LAS can design a workshop similar to our Academic Success Series for your class or campus department/organization. Workshops are provided FREE for your group.

GENERAL INFORMATION

• To request a workshop, complete the LAS Workshop Request Form or call our office at 310-314-7693.



• Workshops are designed around the following topics:
  • Overview of LAS
  • Time Management
  • Exams
  • Math Learning
  • Student Success at UM
  • Effective Studying
  • Classroom Skills

• Most workshops are designed for 45-50 minutes. The Overview of LAS Workshop can be provided to your class or group in a shorter time. Please let us know if you have a special request for a longer or shorter workshop.



• Our workshop presenters may utilize PowerPoint when presenting workshops in classroom settings. If your classroom does not have a computer and/or LCD projector, let us know in advance. We typically do not use PowerPoint when presenting in non-classroom settings unless the person initiating the request can provide a computer and LCD projector.



• Note to Instructors: We request that you provide the workshop presenter with a copy of your course roster for our records.



• Note to Residence Hall Staff and Student Organizations: We ask for your assistance in making the event as successful as possible by ensuring that at least 10 students attend. We will establish an online registration system. If less than 10 students register for the workshop, we encourage your group to participate in our Academic Success Series.
  
  Suggested: Advertise the workshop by posting flyers (we will email you a file to fill out with the specifics). Use available programming funds or request a grant to provide dinner/snacks.
