The mission of the Learning Assistance Service of the Counseling Center is to help students strengthen their skills and enhance their performance to ensure success in their academic experiences at the University of Maryland. Services are offered for undergraduate and graduate students.

The Center for Teaching Excellence's has produced an article entitled "When Students Struggle," which discusses stdent difficulties and ways to help them. Included in this article is a highly complimentary shout out to the Counseling Center's Learning Assistance Service. Well done, LAS!

Now Seeking GSS Leaders for Fall 2012!
The Guided Study Session Program is seeking student leaders for Fall 2012. If you are interested in becoming a GSS leader, please complete the application HERE and submit it by April 15, 2012. Review of applications for the fall 2012 semester will begin on 4/16/12 and continue until all positions are filled. Once your materials have been reviewed, you may be contacted for an interview. The updated syllabus will be posted soon.
The Guided Study Sessions (GSS) Program offers FREE, regularly scheduled study sessions for several Chemistry, Biology and Physics courses. In GSS, you can develop strategies for studying in the course and prepare for quizzes and tests using a collaborative learning process. See the Spring 2012 schedule.
